Tacos/Traditional
(I’m actually not entirely sure it’s still around … or moved. But find it!)
Fantastic and popular spot in Roma - can get VERY busy.
Laid-back, delicious, and not yet crazy with the tourists. Love this place.
Street
You’d be crazy not to pick up a taco, sopa, or bowl of guisada on the street. I have found the best lining the stalls around the Central Bus Station (Indios Verdes.)
Dining
Michelin-Star rated high-end dining - an extraordinary experience.
The world-renowned foodie destination (although, not my favorite! I would choose Quintonil!)
While not high-end, this is one of my favorite nicer restaurants in CDMX. Stunning ambiance, delectable food, and friendly prices.
A simply wonderful French restaurant that will wow you when you are looking for a break from traditional Mexican.
An over-the-top experience, very popular with tourists, but lives up to the hype. Massive and impressive dinging room, and surprisingly friendly service. Food is fantastic.
Yeah, it’s famous for a reason. Another Top-10.
One of my happy spots for a wonderful and casual meal. The training kitchen for Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana (culinary school), it is an affordable, friendly, and truly delicious spot for a nice meal in Centro.
One of my favorites for an upscale experience, but still entirely accessible. Don’t miss the crudo appetizer.
Relaxed and cozy atmosphere with delicious smoked meats and veggies. Wonderful meal for a chilly or rainy night.
Another CDMX mainstay, and rightly so. Great for a fancy seafood lunch. Food is terrific and straightforward. The grilled octopus was likely the best I’ve ever had.
La Antigua Veracruz Restaurante
An off-the-grid find near the airport that will delight you. Very traditional, and absolutely mouth-watering seafood. See my review here!
Chilpa is my absolute favorite and lively cafe for wonderful chilaquiles and other breakfast treats. The patio is a wonderful spot for morning people-watching.
A recent addition - veggie-forward, super fresh, inventive, and lively cuisine. I absolutely loved my experience here for an elevated meal.
Could this be my new favorite CDMX restaurant? It’s a strong contender. I enjoyed an absolutely amazing lunch here - celebrating corn and its importance to Mexico, this Michelin listed Condesa restaurant, and tortilla factory, is just a can’t miss.
Other/Treats
AGAIN! Don’t be afraid of any street food. Will be some of the most satisfying meals you have. Lots to find in Roma (along Insurgentes) and around any major highway, bus station, or train station. Follow your nose - and look for the lines.
Roxy (Ice Cream)
A throwback retro ice cream shop that is the perfect compliment to quiet walk in Condesa.
The home of the churro. It’s amazing.
Delicious chocolate shop and cafe in Condesa.
Yes, a can’t miss Texas-based donut shop in the San Miguel area of CDMX. To-die-for donuts.
Forget Starbucks! Visit this chain with delicious chocolate-based drinks and coffee.
